No. I usually hunt while doing something else and keeping track just adds an extra thing I have to remember to do/ pay attention to.

no, the only time i do is with fossils, but besides that i'm in a similar boat as >>42836824 that and it makes it feel longer then it really does.

pretty much. the higher it goes, the higher the odds (max aka 500 or higher is 1/682 w/o charm and 1/512 with it). thing is, the chance for those rolls to happen is pretty small (at 300-500 the chance for the higher odds is 3%), i don't know why (many people think it's a bug, which given this game, might be true) but i don't mind it too much.

Not a hunt in particular but I got a shiny guzzlord trading a shiny forretress lvl 1 since the trader wanted a trade for one between 1-10.

For me I don't keep track of progress unless it happens to be a short shiny hunt.
My fastest record has been:
>Hatching 13 eggs masuda method swirlix {shiny charm}
>Horde battles 7 encounters Machop (was looking for a numel) {no shiny charm}
>Random encounter full odds 4 min Oddish 1st encounter. {No shiny charm} Wasn't trying to get this shiny but ran into it when trying to get to next gym.

I don't, but I come up with a rough total after i've finished based on time spent or remaining non released mons. With AS the majority of the hunts i've done exceeded the dexnav counter but with an average rate of encounter I was able to get a rough total based off activity and gameplay hours.

Don't really have one.
Just messing around in Y's Friend Safaris in hopes of picking up any random Shinies I still don't have while Bank is still free.
While transferring from White, I found that I still hadn't caught Cresselia, but quickly gave up on the idea since there was no way that thing was going to shine before Bank's free period came to an end.

I really would like to hunt for a Shiny of "ol' moon duck," but like I said before, the chances of that thing shining before March 12th is pretty low.
I would rather spend that short time hunting for targets in Y's Friend Safaris and preparing what Shinies I do have in these older games to be transferred.

By sheer chance, I also went after ho-oh a week later, got it that night, which got me to go after Celebi, which, granted, took longer, a week in fact. Those 3 hunts are what led me to being a regular here, as well as having 25/100 for a shiny Johto dex. When you get the rare instinct to hunt something, I always think thats the target you need to chase. I really think you'll get it, and well before the cut off

What are your thoughts on hunting with multiple games/consoles at once? I've seen videos with people using like 8 GBAs at once and I don't think I'd ever put myself through that. It's just too many things to pay attention to.

I can't do it. One console on its own lets me hunt on the side while also doing something actually useful, but if I start juggling other consoles, suddenly the hunt takes up 100% of my attention. It's no longer a fun, passive time-killer at that point.

Dual-hunting MM Ponyta in Sword and Nilhilego in US SR right now. When I get my other 3ds charged and I get this nilhilego, I'll set up a FS hunt on one, an SOS chain in the other and continue my Sword hunting.

Can someone tell me if I'm crazy, there's nothing extra you need to do to get MM or shiny charm to work, right?

I have shiny charm in my inventory, breeding with a Ditto that has the little Japanese tag, and the other pokemon has no tag (English), but my shiny rates have been pretty abysmal.

Done 4 hunts so far, 2,000 for Rotom, 1500 for Dreepy, 1,700 for Growlithe, 800 and counting for Mimikyu. Isn't it supposed to be 1/512? Low sample size, sure, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Now there is a formula that will let you know how much closer you’re getting to the eventual outcome of hatching a shiny, while never actually hitting 100% It’s 1 - (1 - 0.00195312) ^ (number of hatches). For example by the time you hatched your Rotom there was a 97% chance you should have hatched on by then. Unfortunately you just have to keep at it.

both have their upsides and downsides, eggs are slower while having it always be 1/512. while with RE's, you can get encounters going rather fast (unless it's something like a 2% or 5% mon), however the chance for the higher rolls to occur on that mon is only 3%. i'd say just go with what you prefer.

It almost seems like it's not worth it to go after HA shinies because of there being no way to change to it (even if parent had HA). I think they should implement next game, if parent has HA then even if offspring doesn't get it, he can still learn it from parent or through some kind of tutor somehow.

Like you, I had a Shiny that I didn't remember obtaining, a level 1 Shiny Panpour that's been sitting around in a PC box in Y for years.
I don't remember ever having successfully hatched any Shinies before Y, since its summary claimed it was from Unova, so it was always a mystery to me.
That mystery was finally solved when I recently returned to my forgotten older games to transfer up more things using Bank and found a whole box full of hatched Panpours back in one of my Gen 5 games.

I’m shiny hunting on Ultra Wormholes and I’ve got a question.
I’ve read somewhere that I should travel around 3,000 light-years and jump into wormholes which have a rainbow aura because they should have increased shiny odds, but I’ve noticed some wormholes have two rainbow auras. Should I target this ones? Also, should I jump into the first rainbow wormhole or do I really have to travel that far in order to get the best odds?

My hesitancy in going for the other Kanto Starters is that if I go for them now, I won't want to again for when they get their gigantamax forms. Unless they give you an item that allows a Pokemon you already have to be able to access Gigantamax.

What even are you talking about???

In any case, in a Gen with Hyper Training and Mints, literally all you have to worry about is the right Ability and, in some cases, certain IVs being zero (i.e, 0 Atk for a Special attacker, 0 Speed for a Trick Room team or "Slow Team" as the Battle Tower rental teams call it)

Maybe I'm misreading things here but I thought mints and Bottle caps made otherwise useless Pokemon good? Like if you found a shiny Tyranitar in the wild with good IVs in everything but attack and speed with a Sassy nature. Wouldn't popping two bottle caps on that and giving it a jolly/adamant candy fix it after leveling it to 100?

It would from a battling standpoint, but mints and caps don’t actually change the Natures and IV’s the Pokémon has. So a Pokémon that you hyper train can’t pass down hypertrained IVs, nor can it pass on a minted nature.

I've never shiny hunted before, I'm a few catches away from the charm in Sword and thinking of going for it, already injected a Jap Ditto. My choices are

Raichu (favourite Pokemon but the shiny kinda sucks)
Eevee (but it will take me forever to decide what to evolve it into)
Noctowl (just love the shiny)
Alcremie (same as above)

Also on a side note since I'm new to this - if I breed an Alolan Raichu or Vulpix - will the offspring be the Alolan variety?

If you breed any pokemon with regional forms in Galar, it's either regular or Galarian forms. Just give everstone to Alolan Vulpix and you will get Alolan forms in every eggs. I think it's impossible to evolve Pikachu to Alola Raichu in Sword unless you have Gen 7 game and transfer it to Gen 8.

possibly. the rates supposed to be that it goes higher and higher depending on how many ko's you have until you get to 500, however the rate for the shiny odds to be rolled is 3%. thing is is that at every other "checkpoint" (50, 100, 200, 300), the rate goes up (50 is 1.5%, 100 is 2, ect) until 300 where it's 3% then stays 3% once it gets to 500. people think that what it's supposed to do is go to 100% or something once it gets there but something in the code prevents it.
