>>42840820Swampert's design isn't great and it went through some tweaking between the original art and sprites to what we have today to make it a bit less bizarre. But take away the nostalgia, and Torchic/Treecko/Mudkip would've been a more marketable trio than Charmander/Bulbasaur/Squirtle.
Gen 4, not so much. The fire line isn't really anyone's favorite, ditto the grass line, and Empoleon was awesome at the time, but as the years go by, it feels like something that needed to go through another round of drafts. Something about its head feels disproportionately too small, limiting its expressiveness.
Gen 6, just nah. Braixen is a standout, but Greninja hype died when it lost the marketing support behind it, Delphox is inferior to Braixen, and the Grass line sucks.
