The dlc are even out, we don't even know what they will be actually about. So it's stupid stating facts from now.
For me they should've made a third version, but not because i want to pay more, but because that would've saved the gen 8, fixing the original game which is a mess. It's not only about the amount of content, but the content themselves.

I agree. Though the price for the base game + dlc is a bit rough, DLC is a much better answer than a 3rd version. I mean, think about it. I assume it's nearly impossible for a company being pushed by through such a strict deadline (or at least that's what I've heard happens with GF and Nintendy), DLC is an opportunity to patch things they weren't able to finish in time. It's shit to think that we even needed DLC in the first place but It's nice to know that they're finally taking feedback into consideration :)

They already stated we are getting more side quests and missions to do, 2 entire islands (?) to explore, some graphic changes (they're fixing the n64 tree!) and they're bring back over 200 Pokemon. It sounds pretty kino to me, but hey, you never know. IMO it can salvage gen 8 depending on how well thought out it is. Maybe we'll get more lore about Eternatus and stuff?

I don't really understand this. I've played Black 2 and played Sword twice but I enjoyed both just fine. I don't know what you mean by underwhelming but I found it just as passable as even a decade ago, just no post-game aside the Battle Tower, a few dailies, Max Raids and breeding.

The game is fine, if we're not shit posting or being hyperbolic. If it's their very first attempt at making a "base" game and improving upon it, I'm going to let them have some breathing room. If they repeat this in Gen 9 and the "base" game is just as "fine" as Sw/Sh, that might be more of an issue. SuMo would have been the perfect base. Just add skippable text and added a main-land DLC, it would have been pretty excellent.

The only real advantage Sword has over Black 2 in terms of content is the Wild Area, which is still a pretty light and breezy open-world area, especially if you're just playing through the story.

In terms of numbers of routes or dungeon complexity, there's simply no contest between the two.

Maybe, I can't disagree but I still liked both just fine. I didn't like the routes in Gen 5 but the hallways in Sw/Sh aren't that exciting also. I can't say much for Dungeons, I always hated that in all Pokemon games, but with no more random encounters and all over-world mons, I do hope they bring dungeons back. I remember Gen 4 being a huge reason I cannot stand dungeons in Pokemon.

In 20 years time, if I want to replay Pokemon Platinum version I can without any issues. On the other hand, if I want the "Complete" SwSh experience, unless I still have my Switch with the DLC downloaded, there's every chance I won't be able to.

The DLC has preparations for it in the base game, the DLC was announced fast and with pre-rendered CGI advertising videos as part of the announcement.

By all means, the DLC was planned before the NAT DEX thing was even informed to us. Gamefreak is not trying to make up for controversy with this DLC. And this goes for the DLC in most games out there, period.

Any "fan backlash" to any game will only influence the development of games that will come out 3 or 4 years later. Not the fucking DLC that started development before the game was even close to coming out..

Not quite. Many people were disappointed by the lack of natdex. The DLC is only adding 200 pokemon, rather than the entire of the natdex like people wanted. I still think it's good since the dlc is expanding on the map which is one of the weakest parts about swsh

Level are even more straightforward than SM. Towns and cities feel barren despite supposedly being major hubs. It's also painfully clear that the Wild Area was s cool idea but added late in development.

Also, I personally believe that Pokemon were left out not because they intentionally chose to like they said, but fucked up and ran out of time which is why we're getting batches added in patches.
