Saying lack of movement follows from movement patterns is like saying reduction to ashes is the logical evolution of a line about a fire burning brighter. Incorporating both patterns or adding a more complicated movement pattern like chess moves would have made more sense. There was even linoone's trouble with gently curving paths that the evolution could overcome with its new pattern.
