Okay? I still get some small semblance of joy from X and got reminded of nicer times when the game came out when I walked into the Pokemon Center only for the birthday version to play? Something I haven't felt since even though they're not great games. Is this what you wanted?

X and Y were good.
ORAS were better.

People shits on Gen 6 but it has a way better aestethics than Gen 5 and Gen 7 could ever aspire.

Playing it for the first time right now, I don;t like the chibi art style (same could apply to ORAS) and that the "connect to the internet" message or whatever it is doesn't go away on the bottom screen if you have wireless turned off

It's still fucking baffling to me that they thought making your primary movement in XY be slippery fucking ice psychics roller skates and locking walking to the fucking dpad was a good idea, I'll never stop hating this and it'll always be the reason I never replay XY

The music isn't very good

Even with n3DS cfw overclocking the battles still stutter

This is a 2013 game that feels like it came out in 1994

I have never been too critical of pokemon games but this pisses me off more than anything. I hate that game freak almost never makes NPCs with interesting strategies and instead they just slap level up moves on the trainer's pokemon and call it a day

If you turn on the 3D effect (which IIRC is only enabled in single battles) the game turns into a slide show. It's a little better with overclocking but some camera angles and most attacks still make it grind to a halt.

I will say, at least in the first two hours of Y, you do get shit done, much faster than Gen 7 and getting off the tutorial island. That's about it.

I found XY mediocre and I hated ORAS. I still feel the same way about those. Kalos is still painfully bland and forgettable and I still find ORAS to be an incredibly lackluster remake of good games. However those are still much better games to play than Gen 7 and 8 by virtue of the fact they have an actual region and don't have nearly as much interruptions as the later entries.

I picked up a copy of AS two years ago and I can't bring myself to finish it.It never happened to me before,and I found some things I like even X&Y.I played through every generation at least 2 times but I can't finish AS,it's bad and boring and there's not even a Battle Frontier to look forward to.

I did a few days ago to trade some mons up, I think I prefer the SD style the overworld humans had in gen 6, and it seemed to run better than gen7 maybe?

I honestly really enjoyed X. I put a huge amount of time into it although a lot of that was breeding for online battles. But I thought the backstory with AZ and Floette were nice and the end was heartwarming even if the story was overall pretty mediocre.

ORAS was pretty bad but I think I'm being harsher on it than I should be since its a remake and still lacked the charm of the originals while Kalos was a brand new region I was exploring for the first time.

I replayed Y recently, it wasn't good, sped through it faster then swsh.
I will never touch ORAS as long as a live, hideous soundtrack, horrible redesigns and in the overworld in the ugliest art style of the entire series, I don't even like hoenn and it annoys me how shit the remake is

The best bottom screen in Pokemon history. Walking is not locked to a grid, but the world is still designed like it's on the fucking GBA

I don't believe that Pokemon shouldn't be in 3D, but at the same time Game Freak clearly struggles with making 3D games. Two generations later and they still suck at it

Finished off Rutile Ruby after a break not long ago and boy howdy is the Delta episode more enjoyable when the fights are actually interesting. Reminded me of some of ORAS's better looking locations too, even if a lot of it is faithful to a fault or very simplified. Every time I wished the games had a first perso mode or adjustable camera the game reminds me there wouldn't be much to see. And I still like the option to sit in chairs and most every side feature.

A perfectly serviceable Pokemon game but its flaws really stand out on a second playthrough. Very shallow in terms of replayability and overall content; Kalos really needed a third version to be complete but it was abandoned. Also perhaps the least graphically pleasing due to the primitive 3D modeling, and the sound design is nothing special either.

Actually pretty fun, Dex Nav is a great feature and is actually fairly challenging without exp. Share. My biggest issues are that Megas being so easy to get makes battles more trivial, and it relies on HMs a bit too heavily.

Kalos cities are more cohesive and put together than unova's. Unova's routes may have the upperhand in adding nooks and crannies into spaces and doing the usual route design of older generation, even though kalos routes are shorter and less engaging, visual it looks on par or even more than unova routes.
Unova's landscape is a hot mess of jarring environments placed around sporadically to simulate a "full region", while kalos's landscape is varied less in environments but it's placements are far superior.

Its more in line with gen 5 then I remember, and mostly in a good way. I like how the game gives you access to the fire water grass core in the beginning via the pan monkeys and a kanto starter. The plot focuses around you and a group of your friends, but none of them are as likeable as the characters from gen 5, especially the villain. There's no overarching moral dilemma to underpin the game, which leaves a lot of it to feel disjointed.

I don't mind the terrible story because Pokemon is a monster-catching-fighting game first and the 3D alone adds that much more immersion to the gameplay. And XY has some good places to explore.
