Are you fine with less Pokemon in favour of Regional Variants and Gimmick-Forms (Cross-Gen Evolutions, Megas, Fusions, G-Max, etc.)? Assuming that said alternate forms take development time that could otherwise go toward new Pokemon, are you fine with how the last three gens (plus Sinnoh) have been going or would you like to return to something more akin to previous gens almost entirely focused on new Pokemon?
