Looks charming to me though. The only thing in the game that struck me as particularly ugly was the rocks in that one area before the ice town. I don't even know how people can focus on trees so much when you can't even zoom on them.

Just because people bought it doesnt mean they are all 100% fine with it. Id be willing to bet many of them had their reservations about SwSh but they werent significant enough problems to them at the time. All its gonna take is another low quality generation of removed features and thats gonna make them leave for good.

Me personally I was sitting on the fence with OrAs but didnt find SM or future installments worth buying. I hit my limit of what I was willing to deal with.

If someone saw footage and reviews of a game, specially one that got dragged by internet and youtubers like SwSh, and yet still felt like buying it then they clearly are fine with it though.

There is no bigger definition of being fine with it than buying something that was blown apart weekly by internet personalities. You can't even claim "well it had no legs and bad word of mouth killed the game after launch!" because so far it's had strong legs in all markets.

Freak are agroup of 40-50 yo men trying to learn how to work in 3D HD. Every other example you retards throw up are all made by either younger devs, or devs of a similar age, but with years more experience working with this shit than Game Freak.

Anon, Gen 8 sucks, but the people who bought it already have low standards.
In fact, they don’t care about the quality of the games. They’ll buy multiple copies just to spite strangers that wanted standards higher than “rock bottom”. And knowing them and GameFreak, the next gen will have lower standards than Rock Bottom and shills won’t care.

Your expectations should have been tempered a long time ago. Game Freak has never once optimized for any of their games, ever. There are GBA games that look better than any of their DS games. There are DS games that look better than any of their 3DS titles. There are 3DS titles that make SWSH look like garbage. In any case, the trees in the Wild Area are still better looking than any of the trees in past games. But if you're playing a Pokemon game and thinking "This environment is shitty looking," you're not playing the game. If you can play your 8-bit Game Boy shit, you can play anything else.

And to be fair, the majority of the Pokemon in the game have a new animation when they are encountered in the wild, and quite a few NPCs also have animations when they send out their Dynamax Pokemon. The tree is going to look like shit because it's just a tree. It adds no value to the game itself aside from just being there.

I'm not asking for ultra-hd realistic textures, just textures that look decent and look like what they are supposed to be representing. The problem with GameFreak's tree texture from OP's image is that the texture doesn't really look like what a tree should look like. You could use it was a mud texture or as a texture for some rocks and it wouldn't look out of place. Which is a sign of a shitty texture.

Personally, I usually shit on dextrannies in buzzword war threads because it often feels like it's their only actual point of contention with the games with most other complaining just being opportunism, a lot like what happened with LGPE where the first Pokémon game on Switch was a fucking remake with the same shitty old gameplay and mechanics, and really the only thing /vp/ got genuinely mad about was KANTOOOOO and some autistic tryhard shit being omitted. I get the vibe that if the next round of games does the bare minimum to pander to autists (natdex, minimal kanto references and some extra RNG grinding bullshit in postgame) /vp/ would literally line up to suck Masuda off and hail them as the apex of the franchise, it pisses me off, man.

I think relying on temporary sales to low-information buyers is a bad idea. Nintendo had an entire console that showed that you need to please your core userbase of gamers instead of fickle normalfags, because the erratic, mercurial "blue ocean" audience sees games as a fad, not as a hobby. They're the kind of people who buy 3 - 4 games a console and play whatever their friends/boyfriends/grand children play.
