literally where?
I like the starters too but gen 1 was back when they designed whatever they wanted rather than trying to design something with a lot of thought put into it.

Bulbasaur: a giant frog that turns into a jungle monster. It's tough in nature and always gets leadership status but requires the lowest maintenance in most medias.

Charmander: little lizard that turns into a dragon. Usually depicted as a jerk but with pride and require a lot of work to earn its respect.

Squirtle: tiny turtle that turns in into a tank. Usually the least carefree and just love to mess around and do gangs.

Gen1 starters are the most popular because they had a lot of personality compared to the others

Charizard would've been liked by more people if it wasn't gamefreaks sex slave. Blastoise and Venasaur are cool but I don't think they're the best starters. Gen 3s starters were all really good but I think Blaziken and Sceptiles designs were probably a little better than Swamperts

Swampert is like Venusaur, it takes a backseat as they couldn't do much with it

Venusaur got a lot of spotlights in Kanto and Hoenn.
Even Orange Islands and Alola champions even had Venusaur but yeah Swampert got the short end of the stick.

desu this is a good thing as it makes them feel like a more cohesive group which inspires a greater sense of rivalry/camaraderie. Blastoise's face not matching the other 8 stages always pissed me off

Charizard is very popular regardless. The ones that tend to be highlighted are the thinnest. Charizard, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Infernape are all thin Pokemon, compared to the complement of Venusaur, Blastoise, Swampert, Torterra, and Empoleon. Greninja is much thinner than Delphox and Chesnaught too even though in Delphox's case it's mostly just the bulkiness of the fur.

The Gen 8 starters are filled with more personality than these. People only like the Gen 1 starters because of nostalgia. At least they're better than the Gen 2 and 5 starters.
