Go try to replay any of the 3DS games right now. I dare you. B2W2 is a bit bloated for the first few gyms, but the 3DS games drag the whole way

Gen 6 definitely had the worst story in the series, even worse than gen 8 (which was relatively comfy until the last second). Gen 7 had a decent story though, at least by pokemon's standards. The cutscenes made it feel boring, but the actual story itself was engaging.

Sun and Moon (not USUM) had a better story than B2W2. All I remember was Hugh crying about his sister's Purrloin and saying he'll unleash his rage as well as the fetish fuel movies.

It's just beating gyms with a lax, non-urgent story. Kind of like a railroaded gen 1 game. There were a few plot points here and there, but up until the very end nothing got dire.

how many optional locations exist in swsh? I remember one anon saying the only ones were the lake on route 2 and the wild area. Alola at least had a shit ton of optional areas like haina desert sandy cave so there there was at least some breathing room from the linear story progression

I attempted to for Y but I sold my then DS for rent money.
