They played some Pokemon games and liked it enough (or seen cynically, are sheep enough) that they plan to buy more of said Pokemon. There is no other factor. They watched part one of a movie series and liked it enough to go see part 2. Unless they hate it, they’ll pay for another as well. If they do you hate it and whatever comes next bombs, game free will have to wait two years before they started again and people eat it up all over again.
Something else you goofy bastard need to get through your fucking skulls, however, is that no amount of improved quality would increase the sales in a meaningful way. There’s a small chance that the few autists who didn’t buy the game would them decide to buy the game if they made big increases in quality, but that math definitely doesn’t add up anyway profit-wise.
