Not hated, just underrated.
Before it came out a lot of people were already resenting it out of fear it was trying to retcon previous mons out of existence. I believe that doomed the gen from the start even of it turned out to not be true at all.

It is an early game mon that is easy to obtain though. Compare to Luxray, another early game mon that got pretty high in the rankings.

Unova's problem is that it lacks obvious shillmons.

It doesn't lack shillmons stupid, zoroark was 2, it's just that the shitty dex was so hated nobody liked any of them.
