I didn't buy SwSh, so I've cloned a bunch of him to trade for the entire gen 8 dex

You only get 1 poipole in the game. Poipole can evolve. You definitely need another poipole for your living dex, especially with the magearna needing a full living dex

Because unlike, say the Colesseum Jirachi which you can farm every few minutes this one requires you to go through 90% of a multi hour long game that most people agree is one of the worst in the franchise. Not a lot of people want to do that twice, and those who actually have are far less likely to do it a third time just for an extra to trade away.

No. They’re considered Legendary, which is why they’re rare because of people having to practically beat the game to get one when you need two for a LiveDex.

You get 2 Stakataka/Blacephalon per save file, essentially compensating for their version exclusivity. You only get 1 Poipole so when it evolves it's gone for good, essentially making it one of the rarest Pokemon for living Dexes.

Also, I don't know what you're talking about. The GTS is nothing but Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, Zacian, and Zamazenta whenever I search.

The point is about the number in circulation. The number of Stakataka and Blacephalon is more or less equal to the amount of USUM copies sold. Since Poipole goes away forever once it evolves its quantity goes down. Hypothetically, if everyone

You can farm them by requesting them for uncatchable things in the newest gens and use them to get better stuff.
Type: Null seems to be used like currency too, but for hidden abilities on catchable mons.
You have to keep in mind there's always a chance you can catch Poipole in the DLC and their price crashes, so you should be ready to get rid of them all before that.
Jewing the GTS is its own game.

This. Most of these people transferred in their naganadel and are now missing poipole since it can't breed. If they want to get it registered, they either have to inject, start a new file, or request it on the GTS. Pretty clear to see which option is the easiest for casuals.

USUM? What point are you trying to make? They evolved the one Poipole and transferred it, but to get the Magearna you need a living dex, so they're requesting Poipole on the GTS.
