Everyone in my office is men afed 23-37. We all voted at least once. Literally no one in the office knew what “Greninja” was. They all laughed at the results and said pokemon aint what it used to be and moved on.

Greninja is popular in Japan only. To everyone else its just a zoomermon.

Greninja didn't "win". The poll was terribly formatted. Dividing the Pokemon by regions means that for votes, they're only competing with other Pokemon from their regions. Stuff like Charizard, Lucario, and Mimikyu had to compete with other popular Pokemon from their regions, but Greninja ended up being the overall "winner" because it had no competition because Gen 6 has no other popular or notable Pokemon.

Pokemon were only completing with Pokemon in their own region due to how the poll was formatted. Charizard was competing with other popular Kanto Pokemon, Lucario was competing with other Sinnoh Pokemon, etc.

Kalos has the lowest number of Pokemon and thus the lowest number of popular Pokemon, so Greninja had less competition than the other winners and thus got more votes.

Yes, because you could only vote for one Pokemon per region. Greninja had less Pokemon competing with it than the rest did.

Just look at the difference between Chandelure, a Pokemon from the region with the highest amount of Pokemon, and Greninja, a Pokemon from the region with the lowest amount of Pokemon. The former had more competition and thus got less votes. The latter had basically no competition and thus got more votes.

A lot of people didn't even vote for unova trash, it's not about how the votes were distributed, people simply didn't vote them because they give no fucks about them.

That doesn't matter. Only allowing one vote per region is going to skew the results.

These Pokemon weren't competing with other gens in the poll itself, so when you combine the results from a eight individual polls into one for the overall results, it's not going to be accurate.

Also it's worth noting that part of the reason Unova's count is so low is that these numbers are only counted from the top 30. 30 is not even 20% of Unova's entire dex while it's nearly 50% of Kalos'. Unova has so many Pokemon the votes got split up more so not as many of them show up in the top 30.
