Cursola is literally cursed, coral, and solar. Its Japanese name is Sanigon [sango = coral, sunny, sanigo/sunnygo = Corsola' Japanese name, and gone = dead, as well as the coral disappearing and just being a spirit).
Cursola only came to existence because it is dead and is haunting the living with its ghost branches. No sense for the original Corsola to evolve into a dead spirit like Cursola.
Mr. Rime is rime (frost) for its Ice-type, and rhyme due to it being a tap dancer and a comedian. Its Japanese name is Barikoru (barrier + koru [to freeze]). It is a dancer, a comedian, and also an Ice-type. No sense for the original Mr. Mime, which is a pantomime without any Ice-type power, to evolve into Mr. Rime.
Obstagoon is Tachifusaguma, which is tachifusagu (obstruct) and araiguma (raccoon or badger). The whole evolutionary family is about lines. Zigzagoon - zigzag. Linoone - straight line rushing ahead. And Obstagoon is two crossed lines, hinting at it becoming twice as powerful as Linoone, while also blocking out any further movement. Obstruction is seen as a negative thing, with Team Yell existing solely to stop your journey. The "original" (original in debut, the regional is the actual original) Linoone would be too pacified to block other Pokemon or people from traveling.
Runerigus and Perrserker only exist because their regional pre-evolutions have unique traits about them that prevent them from evolving into a regional form of their original's evolution. Runerigus is Deathban (name similar to Cofagrigus's Japanese name, Deathkan, where it is death + kan (coffin), except ban means slab.) Runerigus exists because the spirit fused to a clay slab instead of a coffin. Meanwhile, Perrserker is Nyaiking (meow plus viking). The Galarian Meowth line are all about being shaggy and brutal viking warrior cats that slash enemies with their claws without being graceful or clean. Persian, by comparison, are classy cat Pokemon that pamper themselves.
