Actual problems with the shipping product can now be fixed with OTA updates rather than a cynical cash grab that does nothing but shit on fans by either fucking them over after they already purchased and played the first games or forcing them to wait a year or more for a patch and an extra battle facility. New content added to an existing region without requiring you to cringe through a shitty story all over again is also a bonus.

There's really no justification to continue producing third versions and half-assed "sequels" just to push minor content updates in 2020, or hell, ever. It's a shitty model, it always was, good riddance. Stop this shitty cope.

I still don't see how hoenn was improved in emerald. It's by far my least favorite gen, so I could have easily missed shit, but unless you loved battle frontier (I didn't) emerald was the biggest ripoff upper version besides maybe yellow. Not counting battle tower the only difference I can remember was some weird extra tower, and a worse champion
