I don’t have a backlog, I played everything I have. Every game I’m looking forward to this year have yet to have release dates and I think SWSH DLC will come out before all of them too. It’s really a dire situation for me.

Depends what kind of player you are if you like multiplayer content there is quite a lot especially if you participate in the vp raids and wifi generals.

Strictly single player you'll get bored of it as quickly as you do with other pokemon games.

I’ve been playing since Gen 1. If by spin-offs you mean the awful Mystery Dungeon then it’s a hard pass from me.
For some years now I stopped playing games not part of my favorite game franchises or games not made by my favorite directors (for time and money reasons).
But you reminded me of a Pokémon Emerald cart I bought 2 years ago off eBay, I haven’t played it yet so might play it until the DLC comes out.
