Sprites needed to be pride flags due to low resolution, the same doesn't really apply to and looks shitty in 3D.

but the 3d models look like they're under a layer of thick fog. it doesn't match any of their other preferences appearances, even if we don't count the sprites that were "brightened up" to compensate for shitty hardware backlighting
i don't know any developer that's struggled this much with basic lighting

None of these are true for Zarude. Its official art look pretty good and I didn't see any problems with Zarude's model really. Its colors are mostly black, make sense it's black for game model too.
