I like him because it's pretty refreshing to hear opinions that are nonstandard without feeling like they're contrary for the sake of being different. It's pretty tiring to hear people rant about how fucking Eiscue, of all things, is one of the worst Pokemon designs ever. It's forgettable at worst.

Most "bad" Pokemon. Hell, I could even understand calling Stonjuror the worst gen 8 Pokemon. I could even see some of the weirder designs like the squirrels garnering a lot of hate. But the hate toward Eiscue baffles me. It's just the kind of Pokemon you see once, get a chuckle out of its gimmick, then never think about again. Like Cherrim.

With most mons you can look at them and understand why someone would like them or have them as their favorite, even if you personally think they look bad.

I don’t see how anyone can look at this shit, especially after seeing it move, and think “oh yeah this is a good (or even appealing) design.” How did this even pass quality control? It looks like they designed the Gmax form first and had to come up with a shitty base form to make you want the gimmick instead.

He dislikes modern digimon's tendency to just be dragons, cool swordsmen, and titty monsters. I feel Duraludon is meant to represent raw construction material hence the Gigantamax form, but that just means it's going to seem incomplete once Dynamaxing goes away next gen.

Coalossal basically does what Duraludon set out to do (made of minerals, ambiguously saurian, vaguely mechanical) but better. I wish it was a counterpart to a cohesive Rolycoly line rather than an evolution.

yeah I rated several of those highly and kept doing so but digimon reached apoint where the average mon was either just a sexy human in cosplay or a cybernetic knight and most of them repeated a set of themes without a whole lot of innovation. I feel like they moved away from creaturey designs to distance themselves more from pokemon maybe, but i dont think fans were clamoring for that. Id just like digimon designs to be more mixed than they became.

Really curious to see his opinion on Eternatus. It's our first "true" Legendary Poison-type, but at the same time the Poison typing feels arbitrarily slapped on (and story-wise Nihilego was basically a plot Legendary and way more interesting). It's also nice that the "UB design philosophy" wasn't just a one-and-done thing, yet I feel lacks the charm that the UBs had (then again, 3rd Legendaries are always 100% serious designs and basically the hardest Pokemon to ever imagine doing anything cute or silly).

Also weirdly derivative of Necrozma in overall design and lore, yet in a vacuum I think I'd prefer Eternatus.

Eiscue is easy to hate on multiple levels. The ice cube hat is lazy and looks like it should break its neck, the pubic hair on the top is nonsensical and looks ugly, and the "real head" is just shit.

But, like the famous image here shows, the worst part about Eiscue's design is how there's so many ways to fix it and make it at least passable, but they instead chose to make the most generic and ugly thing they possibly could. Even just changing the body proportions would improve it vastly.
