The postgame of PMD Rescue Team makes me kind of sad. Never again will your partner come greet you in the morning or follow you around the town. All that's left is an empty shell in the Friend Area that keeps repeating the same generic phrases just like any other individual of its species.

This is the reason why I didn't complete the postgame for Rescue Team. I did for EoS though I wish I hadn't done that for completely different reasons

I liked Gates. Played it all the way through and even did the little tidbit of postgame and loved how it broke the 4th wall to really make it feel like your partner and Hydreigon were interacting with you. Also loved how the player was just in the right place at the right time and wasn't the only human summoned to the Pokemon world.

The world building in Gates is great, especially when it comes to bridging together the Human and Pokemon worlds, which the other games don't really touch upon. In Gates, your partner respects the fact the player has friends and family in the human world.

The game may have its flaws, but it's right up there with EoTDS and the originals. Didn't like Super though. The mechanics were good, but the story was ass.

But seriously, I didn't like Darkrai at all. Once the suicide shock value faded away I thought he felt extremely tacked on to the story and was a "it was actually me all along" JRPG cliche for no good reason. What really soured the game for me was the amazingly half-assed explanation as to why the human became a Pokemon in the first place. Basically you turned into a Pokemon because a PMD game needed to happen. My "Bidoof accidentally transformed you through Jirachi" headcanon made way more sense than the explanation given

Lack of meaningful interactions with your partner as well as losing your portrait after evolving are bad aspects of Team's postgame, however it offers so much more good aspects. Sidestories for legendaries, filling colourful friend areas and interesting dungeons immediately come to mind.

Really like Gates' town management and independent feeling of your team. Postgame is non-existent though.

Everyone ignoring what Gates to Infinity did makes me wonder if people even care about Friend Areas as much as they claim. None of them cared when Gates to Infinity essentially brought them back.
