>>42941369Bad Acting aside i liked it quite a bit. I liked how weird and batshit insane it was, and the first 70% of the movie was pretty cool, like genre hopping controlled chaos. The introduction to Ryme City is unironically KINO too. Granted the movie begins to become TOO batshit insane for its own good by the time the Mewtwo twist is revealed and that drags it down a bit, but i wasn't expecting them to go so balls to the wall with their first incursion into a Pokemon Cinematic Universe, so i appreciated them not holding back. I expected it to be a by-the-numbers bullshit Ted-like Road Trip Buddy Comedy that Sonic ended up being, so extra points for actually making it surprising, wild and unpredictable. Better acting would've been enough to boost my appreciation considerably, but damn were these Leads awful. As stated the last quarter of the movie was insane to the point of stupidity. If they had fixed those two aspects, it would be remembered as a good movie instead of just being remembered as a good VIDEOGAME movie, which is a pretty low bar. Most of the pokemon looked great and Pikachu himself is a modern marvel. I enjoyed it as an experiment to test if the franchise could work in a live action setting, but i'm not at all hyped for the sequel and i still believe this should've been a one off.
Was a 7/10 for me.
The chick was mad annoying, but at least she got canonically tonguefucked by a pack of Greninjas, so that was worth the price of admission
