But if you look at all of the complaints that people have put towards these games outside of the dex, while not every detractor holds every one of them, most of them have basis in things that newer (read: 3ds era or later) games lack.
Though I think, lack of exploration, lack of challenge (arguably gone for much longer), and lack of post game are the main things that have been levied from without having anything to replace them.
