Worst part is, they didn’t even fix this in HGSS. In GSC you could go beat Clair and go all the way to the badge check gate in Kanto, right before Vicyory Road, before even needing to go west of Ecruteak.

In HGSS, it’s more linear- you’re forced to do the radio tower before rage candy bar guy lets you go east of Mahogany, yet all the trainers and wild mons stay the same levels as the originals instead of getting buffed.

Whitney’s badge is Strength, which to be fair you get in Olivine, so it’s not entirely accurate that you *dont* need to go west of Ecruteak... but you can do Clair and go up to VR before the lighthouse and Chuck

God damn it, just rewatched parts 1-3 of Omega Rubyer and it wasn't as good as I remember it. Part 3 has this incredibly long daddy issues part that drags the whole thing down, and part 1/2's jokes are mostly low hanging fruit. I think Golder was kinda fun though?
