Doing DLC is way more likely to get people to buy it, but it's also way more likely they'll do less with it than the third versions because of that. They're guaranteed to make the money, so they'll definitely get less content than a third version. Furthermore acting like both practices aren't shitty is beyond me, though for the reasons stated I still believe third version is less of a shitty practice. Also the simple fact that before the games were half the price of the current game, you're still paying more now for less, which makes the current state of things that much more deplorable
