This is the most overhated pokedex in the entire series. I'll never understand the animosity towards it. But that's just my opinion.

One thing I hate unova for is the power creep it introduced is so big it made tons of old OU mons outclassed or made the stats from pre gen 5 look weak. It also began the minmaxing for a lot mons. I.E. Swords of Justice, Conkeldurr, Ferrothorn, Darmanitan, Krookodile, Amoonguss, Fucking Alomomola, Volcarona and they become such a main stay for singles. However, I'm also a hypocrite because I like using these mons. Like why use mixed attacking mons when min maxed mons exist.

That is true, but not to the point of gen 5 heavy hitters. Like is there a mon pre gen 5 that is stronger than Volcarona. A tank better than Ferro, Amoonguss or Alomomola. Only mon I can think of (for tanks) that can tank better is Slowbro and that just because of it's broken Ability in Regenerator. At least Pseudos are supposed to be strong so I'm gonna excuse that one. Snorlax was nerfed too much just cuz of how many stronger fighting types available in Gen 5 and heracross cant quite cut it anymore with its below average speed especially for an attacker and weak to flying 4x. Alakazam is also just broken in it's own right and one of the first minmaxed mons and Scizor was given everything a pokemon wants. Quite bulky (on physical side) with a big movepool that contains setup moves and recovery moves. I have no excuses on how hard hitting gyarados is.

There was a time when gen 1-3 players complained about how everything viable in gen 4 OHKOs eachother with 4x resist damage, so the retarded new gimmicks and stall options in gen 5 were a breath of fresh air.

heatran is at least on par with volc, trading boosting for a better typing/defensive utility. hell it's better in most cases, and it even walls volc now that hp ground is gone.

chansey's all-around better thanks to eviolite, tangrowth is comparable to amoonguss and slowbro is comparable to alomomola. i won't deny there's some strong minmaxed stuff but that's just a small minority of the dex.

Alright Heatran is a broken. News at 11. Looking at it again. My hate for the chansey line is growing again although I can see why they are needed. The amount of strong special attackers needs to be checked and blissey line as a catch all check/counter puts a relief on teambuilding options. Still hate how much this thing is minmaxed though. I just dont like how much more minmaxed mons are just added in gen 5 and wish they would have toned down the power creep a bit otherwise it would have been a perfect environment for competitive mons. Before the Rain and Sun came anyways.

Just not to the point of making older mons obsolete. I.E. Incineroar was a big mistake as old fake out users and intimidate users got absolutely outclassed by this mon. I dont mind new strong mons, as long as it will still give old mons niche. But this is easier said than done especially with so many mons existing already.

It's somewhat understandable since though I feel most of the designs are pretty strong, there's other more, 'specialized' designs that not everyone will really like. Personally I like some of those more questionable designs like the woobat line or the klink line, but not everyone will, and it will dilute the overall pokedex for them.

i stopped playing pokemon after emerald
picked it up again with some used omega ruby, shortly before sun/moon release
out of all the generations i skipped, i can honestly say i didnt use a single one of these pokemons
i had some i liked from 4th, 6th and 7th gens
but not even 1 from 5th gen, they all look garbage
like something id draw in 6th grade when pokemon craze was at its highest

It wouldn't be so hated if it mixed other gens, seriously, I immediately started liking the game better post elite four when I saw an absol and zangoose and shit. It was far far far to small of a group to have an entire region with just these fuckers. They aren't terrible, but new mons need old ones along side them to dissipate the dislike that comes with them being new

I feel like this whole "Unova = Kanto clone/redo" opinion is a huge meme gone too far, especially since we had recent interviews about the idea behind Unova pokemon disproving this. Most of the comparisons can be chalked up to as:
