Definitely a bad game, but i'm willing to cut some slack to gamefreak because it was their first 3d pokemon game

SM may have been "better" than XY but they were infinitely less fun to play and that's what matters. The handholding in SM is so fucking suffocating that XY feels free in comparison.

Did we play the same game?
I dont think you could leave a town in either game without completing the plot/gym. Hell, if anything SM gave you a break during the last isle, in XY you really felt free only right before the final gym.
