...So just like Galar? If anything Galar has MORE of a unique culture than Unova does because of the gym stadiums. Unova, Sinnoh, and Hoenn are all just Kanto rehashes with different buckets of paint.

I don't know about Bea or Gordie, but Allister and Melony's team's were full of Galar mons too beside their aces.
I don't see a problem with that at all.

I just want something like black and white again where there was a huge number of new pokemon and they filled the entire region with no old pokemon appearing, though you could still TRANSFER all the old ones if you wanted to. Regional variants and evos could help pad this out even more while also having some familiar faces that are still fresh and new.

I’d be down with old pokemon being in the region if they got new regular cross gen evos as well, separate from regional evos

Also Melony, Allister and Bea all have design cues that connect to Frosmoth, Cursola and Sirfetch. In fact the official Bea and Allister merch we got shown last month has them with those two, not with their Kanto-Gigantamaxes.

I think a lot of these design choices need to be understood wholistically. Kanto isn’t being pandered to as much as the origins of the series, since it’s now clear Sword and Shield are true “base versions” as a platform for further development. I like to look at Misty vs Nessa. Both are water type gym leaders, the second in their regions, with connections to the sea, but GF makes thematic updates to Nessa so that she’s tougher and edgier while still giving off classic Pokémon vibes. Another thing is how Charizard is in the Galar dex basically as a Pseudo-legendary instead of an old starter. Gen 8 is really about old and new coexisting more than 6 and 7 were.

Nah, I think gen 7 actually did try more things. Trials, Totem Pokemon, regional forms, Poke Ride, Zygarde Cells, Ultra Beasts, Ultra Space, Rotom Camera, Mantine Surf, Title Defense and Battle Tree felt more like actually mixing out thing while keeping them familiar. Galar could have been more interesting if they would have went for a more "underground" or classical view of the region. I think it had a lot of potential with things like castles, fairy tales, music genres, and industrialization besides soccer and fancy gentlemen. Sure, Wild Area and Raid battles are pretty neat, but the rest of the games feel bland and forgettable despite some characters and maybe one or two locations.
Galar, just like Kalos, is a lot of wasted potential. They could have actually made a big region with lots of areas, interaction with wild Pokemon, a story about corruption and things like that, yet they went safe one more time and left some nicely designed characters in an empty and (unironically) soulless region which panders to Kanto every time it can (while giving some obvious shoutouts to Unova so Unovabortions can shut up, but that's about it).

There's just a reddit survey (around 50k participants). And even then, it was likely a lot of people that don't even play anymore (Sylveon isn't nowhere near top 10 for example).
Greninja took spot number 1 in the japanese survey a few years ago (500k participants iirc), and again, despite its lack of shill compared to Charizard for 2 years now.
