I remember people that defended Gen V called its critics Genwunners/Nostalgiafags.
It feels like history repeated itself with Sword and Shield, but are using "Dextranny/Dexcel/Dextard" instead

what is this mandela effect people have with gen 5, it was praised by critics and fans when it came out.

As somebody who was around during BW hype and release, I can tell you it was somewhat divisive even then. Not just Pokemon design whining either. That having been said I feel like it's overblown, while it's arguable that it was trending towards what the games are like now, but it's also arguable it's more like the previous games than the later ones. Definition of borderline, probably why it's still so divisive. I kinda dropped off /vp/ around B2W2 release though, so I don't remember much there.

History has been repeating itself since Ruby and Sapphire. Had the internet been prevalent back then, where people found out that you can't transfer older pokemon, then we would've gotten the same dexit "Shills vs. Dextrannies" shit as we do now with SwSh.
