You misunderstood, super refers to the game and hard ironically means its not. Super is the easiest PMD game in the series

You can't use them very often, same goes for all Pokemon that aren't (You) and your partner, and it's the strong Pokemon specifically that are unavailable the most frequently.
Never mind you typically can't bring them with you when the story's happening, and by the time you wrap up the story entirely all Pokemon other than (You) and your partner are irrelevant until you autistically grind until you've maxed stats across multiple Pokemon that you now have a consistent fully maxed out team.

gates had a good story, super's story was absolute trash
gates had team skills, super had the shitty emera system
gates had far fewer pokemon but at least you could use them whenever you wanted
