Farfetch'd's French name is Canarticho ("Canard" means Duck and "Artichaut" means Artichoke). The translator didn't know how to include the leek (or whatever it is) so he came up with a bait name.
Sirfetch'd's French name is "Palarticho" which is Paladin + Artichaut, but also phonetically means "Not the artichoke"
