The prevamp is trash.
>all three originals were thin, 2 fanged, upwards pointed single nasal nosed goblins
>the evolutions showed the mask on the first slowly turning into hair which then intertwined with the body to use as claws

>the prevamp removed the nose, and turned it into a horn
>the hands and feet look like they were from bug types
>the hair is not even intertwined
>last evo all of a sudden has underbite, when the first two didn't

the design flaws and not understanding that all pokemon have SPECIFIC features they must have undergoing evolution shows the complete failure of the attempt.

Art style is on point however the problem with OP’s image is that it redesigns the Pokémon when the Pokémon itself already had a fine design.
Pic related is more accurate when it comes to drawing newer Pokémon in the classic style.

As someone who hates the entire Impidimp line, while I don't really understand the thought process on the old school designs in this example, and I think the first two are kinda bad, the third is absolutely fucking great holy shit, significantly better than the Grimsnarl we have

It does the "looks monstrous/ugly" thing without looking like complete shit like (official) Grimsnarl does. The way the artist draws the hands is kinda weird and the teeth shouldn't have an overbite since it's supposed to be a Dracula theme, but overall yeah it's significantly superior. Official Grimsnarl looks like fucking trash and I don't get why people here seem to love it aside from "it's SUPPOSED to look ugly!"

Nu-Grimmsnarl misses the point so hrd it may as well be a new Pokemon.
The whole point of Grimmsnarl is that he covers his body, in particualr its arms, in its hair tendrils to act as makeshift muscles.
Do those exposed stick arms and legs look like they belong to the Bulk Up Pokemon?

Concept =/= good execution, that is a major problem with nuPokemon, they think because they have a concept it automatically makes even shit designs like Eiscue good. I'd rather a simple hairy troll monster than something with a wild concept that looks terrible.

It's supposed to be the same color it's tongue was as an Impidmip.

Not a problem with the design, that's a problem with the current style. Basically the same as saying Torkoal looks bad because the new models make it's smoke into a solid blob
>body markings
Exposed bits of skin. Admittedly could do without them, but they're pretty small and insignificant outside of the ab ones.
>ugly anatomy
Subjective. Gives it a distinct muscular silhouette, which works since it's supposed to be a bulky troll fucker.

What purpose does all the hair serve on Kanto Grimmsnarl? The official one uses it to enhance its muscles and as tentacles.

On the "Kanto" one, the hair looks like it's just for show.

The actual issue is that Torkoal's smoke isn't part of the model at all. It's a 2D image.

The smoke shouldn't be active all the time anyway. What they should have done is what they do in the anime and in previous 3D games and just have Torkoal's smoke come out its animations.

The Impidimp line gets progressively hairier.

Impidimp just has a ponytail on the back of its head.

Morgrem's hair gets longer and sharper so it can stab foes with it.

Grimmsnarl is covered in hair and uses it as fake muscles and tentacles.

Um, ACKSHUALLY, they're PALM TREE SEEDS, and their appearance is a CLEVER form of MIMICRY meant to stay away from potentially dangerous predators in exchange for becoming the targets of Ekans and Arbok, who they can EASILY fight back against because PSYCHIC is super effective against POISON, and the Ekans/Arbok wouldn't know any better because they're assuming it's EGGS and not SEEDS.
