Not really, HGSS was the peak of the series because there was a lot more to do and experience than just a few more hours of autistic repetitive grind. It had a great overall aesthetic and sticks very close to the core franchise themes that most non-autistic people value Pokémon for.

Guess I'd say that of all the games I have played HGSS by far has felt the most "personal" to me in that it focuses a lot on your own adventure/bonding with your team more than just you being a mary sue for someone else's shitty story or grinding gyms to become da best and strongest trainer. It drove that home with a lot of trivial but still very meaningful shit on the side like followers and minigames that let you enjoy your favorites rather than just focus on what was strong in battle, the music was also great and so was the color palette. Everything felt very warm and uplifting, I couldn't even play BW/BW2 afterwards, I found it depressing as fuck.

Pokemon is literally about raising various types of pokemon to defeat gyms so you can defeat the elite four. What in the fuck do you want? Everything you just mentioned IS the core of the series.

I agree with you but I'm going to shit on your post anyway because a couple extra sprites and tileset arrangements are still shitty excuses for additional content. HGSS had minigames and other actual content beyond just more of the same old grinding.
