Secondly, there is shitton of a activities after Hall of Fame. You can start building your own Safari Zone. Gym leaders become available in the overworld so you can add them to your Pokegear and rematch them. Pokeathlon offers new items so you have more reasons to play it. Battle Frontier opens up and this alone can add hundreds of hours of content for some people. All of this on top of a new region which takes few hours if you actually bother to explore it instead of rushing through gym battles.
I can agree Platinum has more logical progression (but also much more linear), however don't give me this bullshit about little postgame.
