>>43041703Giving you a goalpost to wherever you need to go feels kinda off, and being constantly stopped to see the characters do the same animations over and over only makes it worse. Sure, you also get some very cool actual cutscenes like the awakening of the legendary Pokemon, UB attacking the Kahunas, Lusamine being posessed by Nihilego or your first meeting with Tapu Koko, but everything else feels kinda off and doesn't really need all those fade to black and awkward movements.
I know that's how various RPG handle things, but if you're going to see only about 10 characters constantly, at least those 10 characters could have more animations than just explaining, thinking and surprise, especially the main character whose smiling even when everyone else is shocked than Lusamine has a room full of fucking frozen Pokemon.
I really enjoyed SM story, especially for a Pokemon game, but cutscenes were a hell before and after, and they could have been either more expressive or faster, or even having the chance of skipping them completely. That and the things I listed in
>>43041528 are why I don't think SM is better than XY, or at least not as they could have been.
In short, I think SM did great what XY did terribly and vice versa, which is kind of a shame because both could have been amazing games with more time and effort put in, but that's just Gamefreak.
