There was way more dex filler in gen 3, most of these were outright useless in game,

even some of the three staged ones were shitty like exploud and shiftree

They surely are cool features but they could have used the Emerald's Match Call to simply wait for the Gym Leaders to be ready for a rematch, Platinum's daily random 5 trainers/leaders rematch, or LGPE's availiable rematch after beating the League. The way they implemented important trainers rematches in HGSS was by far the worst to date.
