The spirit of Pokemon has always been 6v6 singles.
Every important battle in both the games and anime have been 6v6 singles.
It's no wonder that people can't bring themselves to give as much of a shit about 4v4 doubles.

Not even remotely true. Most competitive games see a far greater percentage of their rosters represented at large tournaments. There are over 400 fully evolved Pokemon, but only sixteen of them are seen here.

I think it's just a function of 6v6 battles taking too long for a tournament setting. Rounds would go on forever, which would hurt participation and audience attendance more than it helps.

That's why 6v6 should be reserved for the finals. Maybe also the semifinals and quarter finals, but probably just the finals.
Other rounds should be 3v3, and prelims should be 1v1. This way battle length is weighted by importance.
6v6 is always reserved for champion battles in-game and final tournaments in the anime.

It staggers me that VGC, the official format, doesn't ban legionaries. 2v2 is the funnest format, I don't give a shit what others say, but the fact you could come in with primals, mega quaza, etc just makes it an uber spamming joke. Literally just ban legendaries. You still get the 100% usage Wrestle Tiger of Flinching but at least that can be handled normally and not by just counter picking the best uber or some completely retarded poketuber memestrat.

In gen 5, an item called Eviolite was introduced that gave a 1.5x bonus to defense and special defense.
Porygon 2 is one of those Pokemon that was designed as a final evo, and the evolution introduced later was more of a sidegrade.
In the case of Porygon Z, it gained speed and special attack at the cost of defenses.
Porygon 2, being an NFE Pokemon with high defenses, is a great user of Eviolite.
