It was okay, but it was stupid how they pretty much shelved him after the 5th gym. His only appearance after that was in the finals, where I already stopped caring about him.

I think that's what bothers me the most about the story. You're not THERE. You only see the aftermath of what happened. There's so much missing context to everything.

I feel like it would be a lot better if Game Freak had actually decided to make peoole react to his shit instead of literally forgetting he existed for multiple periods of time. Just have NPCs comment on him occasionally; someone lamenting their stolen Wishing Star or getting their shit kicked in by him at the Gyms, Stow-On-Side folks commenting about how he broke their fucking mural, literally anything.

That one actually does happen. The walking NPCs sometimes comment on how they liked how the mural looked before Bede smashed it.

Not really. But every other NPC lacked a personality except Hop. Bede comes in as second in the development department, which is just sad. I know calling these games unfinished is a meme, but god damn, why didn’t these characters do anything memorable? Professor Magnolia did literally fucking nothing. Rose’s plot still made 0 fucking sense. Leon has nothing to him besides being the champion and “‘getting lost! xD quirkyy’” Team Yell wasn’t interesting. Pierce wasn’t given enough time to tell the story they were going for, Marnie has 0 personality. FUCK I hate SWSH. Cilan, Chili and Cress had more characterization than everybody in Galar combined.

No. It’s because GameFreak is too lazy to be bothered to give us a complete game. Us missing half of the story is a shitty decision based out of laziness. People can defend it for being realistic or whatever since the champion should be handling problems, but I play Pokémon to do fun shit in the Pokémon world. Not to do the must mundane, played out shit just to have NPCs tell me about all the crazy events I missed. Fuck SWSH!

People complained when it happened on screen and wasn’t inferred. So they they went gens 1&2 with the story and people literally hated it for that very reason only to turn around and praise gen 1&2 story writing. Soooo. We get what we deserve at this point
