RS as a single game maybe, the entire generation as a whole was an epic adventure to re-catch them all spanning 3 regions with actual reasons to enter that battle tower for once.

What atmosphere was that? It sure didn't feel like some island tropical locale or something. All the areas were quite boring, to me at least, and I usual love a well done tropical setting. They made it boring though.

XY had a few secret areas, Mewtwo that cave train thing, also whatever the npc battle thing full of rich people was. Friend safaris and holy hell post game clothes collection was fun, also those restaurants. Even minigames with high scores to beat in Amie.

Swsh is just online event battles which are nothing but stressful. Can't enjoy stuff at your own pace at all. And that's IT. Swsh being so shit post game is why I quit the series.

Hmm... Mismanagement. Maybe they had time restraints due to Let's Go and Town Hero.
The sad fact of the matter is Gamefreak isn't that talented of a dev team. I've played some of their other games on Steam and they all sucked.

XY and SM at least had detours and sub-plots to shake up the main quest. It's just a straight gauntlet of gyms in Sword and Shield. Even when you finally encounter Yell for real they just serve as gym attendees.

not that anon but I never had an issue with cutscenes and Lillie is not the reason I like USUM. I like the games because of the Alola region, Totem battles, new surfing mini game, and defog getting added as a move tutor for the first time ever

The game has no sense of pacing and wants you to get through the core game as quickly as possible, because the devs are afraid you have the attention span of a goldfish and will play something else without finishing the game.
Also it saves them money from having to put forth any real effort.
