A cockroach that's absurdly tanky.
Maybe even give it an ability that lets it use the move it selected even if it faints before it has a chance to use it, referencing how cockroaches can survive after being decapitated.

we're due for a termite pokemon, i'm disappointed they didn't go more into eusocial aspects of things like durant or vespiquen. you could have a straightforward evolution path or have soldier and worker formes with slightly different builds. they're mostly known for eating cellulose, there's a few fakemon that put a spin on this like steel-eating termites

I want a bug/steel silverfish so bad. They're incredible. They are incredible because they can eat stuff that contains polysaccharides like adhesives, glue, hair and plaster. Very very few creatures in the world can do that. The best part is they don't need bacteria or enzimes to eat paper and wood, unlike Termites.

if they can get away with parasect they can get away with more parasites. the only way i can think of making them "child-friendly" is to basically make them living steroids.

or you could focus more on the goofy flea circus aspect and have it be an acrobat, possibly bug/flying with bounce and acrobatics and such

Bugs are the best type.
Why?
Because when you want to make a Water Pokemon or Grass Pokemon, you just take an animal and give it an element.
But to make a Bug interesting? That's challenging. That's something only smart people try to do. Dragonfags and FireFightingfags can suck it.
