Omanyte was ok but I'm not sure if that's because he's actually good or if it's just because the entire latter half of Kanto is weak to Surf-spam
Muk was ok but I think I needed a better moveset
Parasect was utter garbage outside of knowing Spore

Can't find my game but this is what I have been using in diamond. Currently headed to the north-most lake. Skuntank having flamethrower almost makes up for not having a fire type.
