New region, new amazing fakemon and trainer sprites, probably the only fangame dex that does crossgen evos correctly, hard and rewarding difficulty, and amazing original soundtrack, an extreme rarity for any fangame.

Play Vega minus. Og Vega is a grindfest, wild Pokemon are routinely 10ish levels below the bosses that have on top of that insane coverage.

I looked a little online and it seems like the designs were made by a bunch of randoms on 2ch cycling in and out of the development for altair and sirius the hack pair vega is a sequel of and carries the same mons. It wasn't until the last year that a dedicated team pitched in and redrawn every design.

Altair and sirius did. The hack fully released in 09 but these shots come from march 08. Even in the final main release the only things looking polished are the battle portraits.

I feel like Sage would be a better comparison for a sort of "board bands together to make a polished product" case given how Clover is more of a meme game with joke designs.
...though Sage is dead, so I suppose Clover is the only comparison left.
