I refuse to misuse the word boomer to describe myself, but I did start with Kanto and I hate Johto. It's just such a bland region compared to Kanto without any of the memorable characters and it's such a walk in the park it's not even fun.
I watched the Johto anime on TV a lot when I was younger and really enjoyed it my love of the anime did not carry over to the game. I only beat Gold once compared to the numerous playthroughs I did of Blue.

It's a debatable time Some people say millennial ends as late as 1999, some people say it ends as early of 1992.
Personally I think the 90s are a grey zone and in between period and gen Z should start with the year 2000.

experience has borne out it starts no later than 1998, no earlier than 1996---if anything, it's definitely 1997

me. loved it back in the day, but looking at it now, it was the gen that started a lot of the problems with pokemon now.
gen 2 is great though. level curve sucks but i appreciate the sense of adventure.

I started with gen 2 and aside from nostalgia I admit Johto’s a massively bland region. Instead of two regions in one game it feels like two half-regions stitched together awkwardly, and HGSS definitely executed it much, much better.

I started woth emerald and i really hate gen 4. The only good thing that came out of it was platinum. Fuck johto why would I want kanto's sloppy seconds when i don't like kanto to begin with. The sinnoh and johto dexes suck ass. Unova is based.
