the icon on the Max moves will stay normal but it will do the correct type Max move

Hidden Power's Z-move was always Breakneck Blitz, so no, that's not why it was cut, cause they would've made it Max-Strike regardless of what type the hidden power was.

The mechanics of Weather Ball with Z moves and Dynamax suggest otherwise. It used to always turn into Breakneck Blitz but now changes type when Dynamaxed.
