They're shit. People are correct to say that they aren't as bad as they're made out to be, but they are still quite bad make so mistake. The routes are just awful, and the trainer battles are almost all shitty, like the AI is so fucking bad. All in all it is a terribly bare bones experience, not worth the money. They DO however make very good and important changes that make me mildy optimistic for possible future titles made when game freak possibly gets their shit together
>Gyms are now actually gauntlets that need to be done in one go, can't even access the PC like everywhere else to top it off. Challenge would be legitimate if the bottomless bag and endless money didn't kill the possibility of resource management requirements. All the same its a huge step in the right direction.
>As shit as the graphics are the gameplay in the wild area is fucking great. Not referring to the shitty raids, but the actual wild area. Wild pokemon varying in level so wildly adds to the atmosphere wonderfully and there is a hefty number of ways to find them too (randoms, symbols, wanderers some of which need to be called down from the sky) it's quite great. Running into a way overleveled wild is actually stressful and some of them outrun you on the over world too. Scavenging for items and berries is tedious, but I'd be lying if i said it didn't make me feel like I'm exploring a living environment, and there's a decent amount to explore.
>Rival battles see the rivals actually shuffle members. If you didn't spoil yourself yet, don't, cause a couple of these can be curve balls and lead to interesting challenges despite the battle being easy otherwise.
>Everything is greatly streamlined. This makes the game astoundingly easy, but if the difficulty ever catches up to the new mechanics we can get difficulty that exists ENTIRELY outside of tedium and inconvenience, a first for the franchise.
All in all, shit games, but I owe gamefreak credit for heading in the correct direction.
