Me. Every gen has at least a few pokemon I like, more often than not a lot, so I like every gen. Some less than others, like gen 8, but I don’t outright hate it.

Me as well, every gen has its upsides and downsides , and I do think some gens are better than others, but there isn't a single gen I hate

Sure. There's honetly not a huge difference between my favorite and my least favorite gen. Pokemon games just don't differ enough from each to make my liking for each one all that varied.

I'm pretty so-so on the original gen 1 games and I think gen 8 is somewhere between shit and okay.
The original GB gen 1 games had too many little issues, and gen 8 is... gen 8. No clue how they managed to make an objective downgrade on a handheld franchise, but eh.

I don't think there's been a truly bad main series pokemon game. It's kind of hard to make a game with at least 61 new pokemon and a (usually)8 gym region and have all of it suck. For example, Swsh gets a lot of shit for its lack of content, but a lot of people would probably enjoy the pre-first gym leg of the journey since you see so much compared to other games before the first gym and it caps off with the highest level first gym leader to date. I wish people on this board would stop speaking in hyperbole all the time and realize that a lot of their complaints with pokemon games are framed in comparison to other pokemon games.

I think I might agree with you on this, but not for the reason you listed about the first section of the game. People complain that swsh has "nothing to do in it", although I enjoy raids and camp enough as it is. I guess some people don't like those features, which is fine, but I get the impression they disregard that as content because they personally dislike those features

Dexcut sucks but they are adding 200~ in this first set of dlc and likely will do another considering how successful it is. It wasn't any better having to buy multiple gba games to complete the dex in gen 3.
