>>43171267>BOTWDeveloped by a passionate director and development team for more than 4 years. People give Zelda flak for constantly getting delayed, but those delays make those games better. The only games iirc that Pokemon delayed were DP, and even those games were atrocious. (There exists an alternate reality in which DP were not delayed. I feel for those people.)
>OdysseyProbably had one of the biggest development teams in all of Mario. Fresh blood and new ideas being brought in to replace Miyamoto. A desire to return to platforming form while making for a grander experience than ever before.
>SSBUSakurai is one of the best directors and developers of all time. Flat out. If he feels something is going stagnant, he drops out (i.e. Kirby) and lets somebody else handle it. Sakurai has no loyalty to Nintendo: he often criticizes Nintendo's decisions and praises his competitor's. His love for certain video game franchises sparks through with his descriptions and discussions on them, such as Fatal Fury. Sakurai overworks himself to death and was somehow able to negotiate with countless second- and third-parties for the rights to their IPs for a fighting game. This is a man who made one of the best 3DS games in story, character, and narrative out of a dead IP. He was the director to Kid Icarus Uprising.
>Animal Crossing New HorizonsThis game was delayed and rightfully so in order to give the developers more time to work on the project.
Compare that to Pokemon, where the franchise is so integrated with merchandise lines, the anime, and the TCG that delaying it is near impossible. Also compare those games to Pokemon, where the ultimate goal is to make money through making the games as good and highly praised as possible, to Pokemon making most of its money through merchandising. (This explains why form changes are so prevalent in Pokemon now, from Mega Evolutions, regional forms, form/forme changes, and Gigantamax forms.) The games only exist for that.
