I got good memories, wish they would actually utilize continuity more if they keep insisting on having ash be the MC but nope.

Ash has so many friends and people he's met throughout his journey and seeing him not mention or even remember them sometimes sucks.

As someone who's watched every season of pokemon (not the BW one i could not stomach it) the OG has that special magical feeling to it that i wouldn't even consider nostalgia. It really handled filler the best, the newer seasons do not hit as hard.
