ITT types that you never use
Normal type is so boring for me and I don't see a reason to run a pokemon that has no super effect on any other type.

Normal types historically have had very diverse move pools and provide a wide range of coverage options. I've always enjoyed using Cinccino with bullet seed and rock blast.

For me it's dark type, it always felt redundant to ghosts and I like most ghosts better.

You can realistically use any type but ice
>Kanto:Ice types are basically all found near seafoam and msot are watee when yiu already have a surfer
>Johto:All shoved right before 8th gym
>Hoenn:All in a missable area when they're underleveled
>Sinnoh:Final type with the only shot you have maybe being that eevee in Plt.
>BW:Can be found pretty fair with the exception of cygonal, but vanlluxe evolves at a pretty high level
>Kalos:Despite the huge typing options you have the only early ice is the sail fossil
>Alola:Most are in victory road, only new one is crabonmible which evolves right before the E4
>Galar:Not counting max raids I think you can find them midgame but the new ones are late game

No. Normal is just another element in the Pokemon universe. Type refers to the type of elemental energy the Pokemon manipulates.

Stuff like Plates, Gems, and Z-Crystals have confirmed this.

Normal types aren't typeless, they're Normal elementals.

Yeah, ice kind of gets fucked over by GF.
That said, if you really want it, Jynx is a perfectly viable option in Gen I for like half the game since you can trade for it pretty early (and you get a free Lapras) and I personally still opted to use Froslass in my last Plat run.
Also 8th gym isn't even halfway through the game in Gen II so ice types are completely viable there too, and that's not to mention the Lapras you can grab as soon as you get surf.

I never use Grass because in addition to tons of weaknesses and bad offensive moves, they're all very frail.

Wat. Plenty of grass types have good bulk, even if you're talking mono-type grass.

Grass types have really good attributes in comp, but I actually kind of have to agree with the first anon here, they aren't great for running through the game. The issue lies in the fact that their strengths don't really matter. The AI fucking cheats so the ability to inflict sleep doesn't really help much, and the AI is stupid so generally you're better off just sweeping with SE moves rather than relying on slower tactics like stall, which is something Grass types don't do very well for several reasons.
I'll still use Grass types myself in fact, Grass starters are generally my favorite, to the point where I'd say that there isn't a bad grass starter in regards to design but they certainly aren't ideal for optimal play in a normal, non-challenge run.

Lapras is god-tier, it's so good it outclasses Cloyster and Dewgong, which are decent at best.
Jynx is also god-tier but people usually don't go out of their way to get it. Same with Articuno.

It's mostly due to how rare/late they are. Ice types are pretty decent in DPPt too.

Grass is at least strong against the most common types water, rock and ground.

Ice types, too frail and a good Water type will give me the same coverage.

I actually use Normal types pretty often, Ghost immunity is handy and they're generally very flexible and tanky.

Fairy is the only type i've never used, not only is the last type that has been introduced, but all the pokemon have these forced cuteness or femininity themes. The few ones i like are from older gens from when fairies did not exist, so i never used one. I look forward to more fairy types that aren't feminine/cute/pink like grimmsnarl
