Most type combos have weight to them mixing good and the bad of both types both offensive and defensive. There are very few if any types+stat combos that don't work well with water

Water is strong but I'd argue it falls a little short for a few reasons (stats usually favor bulk but doesn't usually have reliable recovery, numerous abilities that nullify their main STAB, often rely on rain to be serious threats, )
Strongest type is Steel.
