More like the first 3 gens. Vikavolt, Golisopod, Masquerain, Vivillion, Mega Pinsir, Ribombee, UBs, Centiskorch and Frostmoth are nowhere near as bad as most Gen 1-4 bug types.

You can't even really fix it without fixing its stat spread. Game Freak really went full retard with making Pokemon have mediocre physical/special stats in the past. There's no reason for Crobat to have 70 special attack when you could shave off 30 and split it between relevant stats.

This. Even the worst bug-types today like Vivillon are far, far better than their counterparts in the early gens. Outside of Scizor, Heracross, Foretress, and maybe Shedinja, the rest weren't just bad, but completely awful and blatantly unusuable.

This is a general trend for most Pokemon though. Greedent and Thievul are bad but they're still much better than Raticate or Mightyena, nowadays GF at least tries to give every Pokemon some sort of unique niche.

Weather is not at all useless, rain and sand teams are still extremely good and have been since Gen 6, they just aren't blatantly overpowered and the only way to build a team like in gen 5.

Mega Houndoom's problem isn't that it needs sun, it's that it needs sun while also taking the mega slot away from Mega Charizard-Y, the best sun setter. Plus, while it's ungodly powerful, it's not very fast or bulky and can still be easily killed by things like Lando-T, Kartana, Greninja, etc.

This. Stuff like Pangoro or Arcanine aren't amazing but they're more than usuable, they just aren't as consistently strong as the top-tier Pokemon. There's a world of difference between that and proper shitmons like Delibird or Seaking.

Vivillon was the only “normal” Pokemon viable in AG for the longest time, so if you don’t play by Smogon’s rules it’s arguably one of the best bug types.

Z-weather moves helped a little, but those and Castform are gone now. Good thing gamefreak did what it does best and just gave its signature move, Weather Ball, to everyone else. They could have at least put Castform in swsh if they were going to have the haphazard wild area weather in the game and weren't deleting its signature move like other pokemon that didn't make it.
