maybe this is off-note but I always considered the gentleman in lilycove who'd give you a daily berry before saying it suits you to a T because you're a Trainer as weirdly very memorable and genuine. maybe I just enjoyed that city too much

I'm the same way with other stuff like the fact that the nurses in the pokecenter often have specific dialogue to point out the time and day and your trainer card rank and your birthday and so on, literally all of that shit is soulful as fuck to me, it's in every game and I appreciate it every time, unnecessary but it adds something special

I remember the female lass trainer before Miltank Farm in Gold/Silver solely because she was the only one I remember having an Ampharos when you would rebattle her and I always loved Ampharos. I think certain things just stick with us for odd reasons.

The nurses mentioning that you're out late or in early is always the best. It's easy for immersion to get lost when the game becomes breeding/shiny hunting after the main story is finished but that little dialogue helps keep it in check.

I agree, the first time I got Pokerus and got that unique text from Joy I lost my shit. The game still had things I hadn't seen and seemed so mysterious.

It really does seem like they put more effort into Lilycove compared to the rest of the towns. It’s always been my favorite Hoenn location.

It's sad how the game barely resembles gens 3 and 4. The world design was crazy. Finding the regis in hoenn was one of the best moments in pokemon's history. You had to actively hunt for hidden pokemon. Deciphering ruins and changing the overworld. It wasn't just postgame it was secret postgame. I don't even remember anything ever telling you about them. You had to just randomly find some ruins underwater in an area the game never even tells you to go to.

Catching all the pokemon has never really felt like an accomplishment since those day. It baffles me that people seriously don't like Hoenn.

I loved these small ingame events for certain event-Pokemon like Mew and Deoxys in Gen 3 and Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus. It certainly added a lot more than "Hey, here is your free Hoopa/Volcanion, just pick it up in the store for free".

Thats where gen 4 shines for me. The event giving you Arceus in hgss was amazing lorewise and despite dppt having a million legendaries the game made you work for them, even if it's just the game making you hold the up button for half an hour to get shaymin

try talking to random NPCs from Pallet Town onward and you'll see that
start paying attention to what teams and wild Pokemon you encounter in terms of diversity from each area to area
there are a LOT of faults with the game that only become apparent when you remove the childhood goggles, but can't be unseen at that point
